This would be perhaps THE defining battle of the war. The Russians hailed it as the contemporary "battle of Cannae." The Germans called it Rattenkrieg or "rat war." Lasting from July 17, 1942 until February 2, 1943, the Battle of Stalingrad would prove to make or break either side in the quest for total domination of Europe. 

In the Battle of Stalingrad, Soviet forces surrounded and crushed an entire German army led by General Friedrich Paulus, with military casualities not comparable in the West for thousands of years.  Including both military personnel and civilians, the total casualties reached nearly 2 million. For both sides, Stalingrad became a desperate ordeal of rodentlike scurrying from hole to hole. Whoever came out victorious would be the inevitable victor of the war. Which side will you fight for?

Now on the Liberators battlefield, this bloody engagement is represented by alternating battle requirements along a steady map, emulating the shifting strategies used by Commanders and Generals on the fields of history. Starting July 6th, players can enter and test their might, with various restrictions that yield varying rewards. Prove your ability achieve victory under strict circumstances using nothing more than what's left of the men at your Command, your military cunning, and clever tactics. Make your way across scores of fallen men intact and claim your prize at the very end. But it won't be for the faint of heart.
